Urdd National Eisteddfod 2026
All of us at Ysgol Sadwrn are incredibly proud of Ioan’s success at the Urdd National Eisteddfod this year! Stepping out under those pavilion lights and performing on stage (y llwyfan) is no small feat.
The Urdd National Eisteddfod is one of Europe’s largest competitive youth festivals, organized by Urdd Gobaith Cymru to celebrate Welsh language and culture. Each year during the May half-term, the festival transforms a new location into a bustling cultural hub called the Maes. Over 15,000 young people gather to compete in music, recitation, drama, dance, art, and literature.
Reaching the main stage is a massive feat and means you are performing alongside the very best young talent in Wales.
Beyond the formal competitions inside the pavilion, the Maes is alive with energy. Between outdoor concerts, interactive stalls, science exhibits, and sports activities, the festival offers an unforgettable experience where the Welsh language thrives in everyday life.
At Ysgol Sadwrn, our goal is to connect learners worldwide with the richness of Welsh heritage. Seeing Ioan shine on Wales’s biggest youth stage reminds us of the power of language, and community.
Fantastic, Ioan!
