Have you ever been sailing?

At Ysgol Sadwrn, we believe that learning Welsh is a journey full of imagination, creativity and fun. Our latest unit in the Language Lounge, Travel and Holidays took our young learners (aged 4–6) on exciting adventures where they could explore new places, share ideas and build confidence in speaking Welsh.

Over six fun-filled lessons, the children discovered different ways of travelling, from cars and boats to aeroplanes and rockets. They travelled on pirate ships to search for hidden treasure on deserted islands. They practised asking questions, creating sentences and sharing their own ideas while having lots of fun.

One of the children’s favourite adventures was travelling into space. To spark their imagination, they explored planets, astronauts and rockets. As part of this creative challenge, two of our learners, Gethin from England and Alegría from Spain, created their own rockets ready for launch into space! Their wonderful creations show how learning Welsh can inspire curiosity and encourage big dreams.

However, they were not very keen on sailing to the Isle of Man on a frying pan! Why do you think that might be?
