Hello everyone! St. David’s Day is tomorrow, and it’s a fantastic time to celebrate Wales and our traditions. One delicious way to join in the fun is by making your own little Welsh cakes, or pice bach / pice ar y maen.

Recipe – Welsh Cakes (Pice ar y Maen)
Ingredients
- 225g self-raising flour
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of mixed spice
- 110g butter
- 75g caster sugar
- 75g currants/sultanas/raisins
- 1 egg, beaten
- Splash of milk
Method
- Gather your ingredients and the necessary equipment.
- First, sieve the flour, salt, and spice into a mixing bowl.
- Next, add the sugar, currants, raisins, and sultanas.
- Then, add the butter. Rub the mixture together with your hands to create a dough.
- After that, pour in the beaten egg.
- Roll out the dough and cut into circles.
- Bake the Welsh cakes on both sides until golden.
- Once cooked, share, eat, and enjoy!
